If you are looking for a delicious recipe for French Toast, then look no further! This recipe is easy to make and will make you breakfast guests keen for a second serving (although they are so satisfying they won’t need it).
Makes: 8 slices
2 cups of milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 slices of brioche (* see note)
2 tablespoons caster sugar
*Note: you can buy a loaf of brioche in the bread section of most major supermarkets (if you can’t find it ask at the service desk) or at your local patisserie.
Crack the eggs into a large shallow dish (small baking dish or large shallow bowl work well) and whisk in the milk, vanilla, and sugar. Mix well.
Heat a large frypan on medium with enough butter to coat the base (about 30g). Once the butter begins to foam, you are ready to start dipping your brioche.
Take a slice of brioche and swiftly immerse both sides in the egg mix (if you leave it too long it will absorb too mix egg mix and will be very heavy). Let the excess egg mix run off before placing in the buttery pan. Fry each side for 1-2 minutes, until golden. Repeat for each slice, adding more butter to the pan as needed.
Remove cooked French Toast from the frypan and serve hot with fresh strawberries, maple syrup and a dusting of icing sugar.
